4.1 EDXRS spectra evaluation
Obtaining information from the measured spectra is not always straightforward, since the measurement is affected by noise and different types of spectral interferences. Therefore, an evaluation is required to extract the information that could be analytically relevant for the purpose of the measurement. The main purpose of such evaluation lies in finding an accurate estimate of the counts arising from measuring a characteristic emission line, which is proportional to the amount of the given element in the sample.
The simplest task is to identify the presence of a peak in the spectrum:
